A Holistic Approach to Health & Wellness

This means that when we are working towards your life feeling as best as it can, we will look at how all areas of your life are connected.

Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat?

Does your overeating affect your weight, and your weight affect your self confidence, and self confidence affect your social life?

Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?

Do the relationships in your life lack boundaries causing you to take on other peoples stress & drama, which in turn can affect your health & energy level?

As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health & wellness as a whole.

The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I studied health coaching, coined the term “primary foods”, and I really like this concept. It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment.

It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary.

I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Together we’ll work to reach your wellness goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy, having healthy relationships, creating balance in work & home life. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

We will focus on self care as we work on creating more self love & self worth, the corner stone to lasting positive change & happiness.  I want to see you living a life that you love.   A life that is fulfillingA life that feels good, in a body that feels good & vibrant. I want to support you in becoming the healthiest & happiest version of yourself possible.

To do this, we will look at the whole of your life, and focus where it’s most needed.

You Are What You Eat

Good food is something I’m really passionate about.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients and what they eat in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

I personally believe the #1 thing for most americans to work on in their diet is learning to eat real, whole foods.  Have you ever heard the saying “Don’t eat anything that your grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food”?  The majority of ‘food’ in stores these days are more like ‘food-like-products’ rather than real food. This ‘food’ is so processed and full of added ingredients that not only does it lack actual nourishment for our bodies, but often can be harmful to us.

I am passionate about helping people learn to eat healthier through eating whole foods, and really enjoying them! One of the biggest myths out there is that eating healthy means sacrifice. Quite the contrary….eating healthy is divine and delicious, it just takes some experience! Eating produce that is fresh, in season, & local is a whole different experience than eating out of season asparagus from thousands of miles away.

I’d love the opportunity to show you how to eat good whole food, and enjoy every bite.

Before you take on the judgement that I am dogmatic about my diet, and think everyone should eat super healthy all of the time, let me tell you that I believe strongly in the 80/20 rule for myself and I recommend that as well for people who don’t like to live like puritans. Really, I shoot for more like 90/10, but let me explain. It’s about what you eat most of the time, not all of the time.

Yes, I personally eat mostly whole foods, beans, grains, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds & some fish. Most of the food I eat is organic & much of it local.  I cook/prepare most of my meals at home from scratch and I eat a ton of veggies everyday. However, when I want to go out for pizza and dessert with friends….I do it,  I enjoy the hell out of it, and I don’t guilt myself for it.

I’m here to support you in making gradual change from exactly where you are now, to a better way of eating that is not just healthier, but delicious too! I recognize that change in your diet should be gradual in order to be sustainable. Rather than focusing on giving up certain foods, we will focus on adding new healthy options into your diet that you love, which will naturally lead to less desire and room for unhealthy foods, thus crowding out the foods that aren’t that great for you.

We will work on changing your relationship with food, as we all tend to have some bad habits from emotional eating to not taking time to chew!

We will work on deconstructing your cravings to find out what your body really needs, reclaiming a sense of balance & harmony.

Bio-individuality is another term coined by Joshua Rosenthal of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I studied, and I think it’s very important to approach working with my clients with this in mind. The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs.

One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run.

Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, & preferences.

Together we will figure out what works best for you.

Self Love As The Cornerstone To Change

I believe strongly that self love is the corner stone for true and lasting positive change in your life. I think the bottom line is that we really need to feel worthy of doing the work!

I have this strong belief because of my own experience in this area. I’ve done a lot of personal work over the years. I’ve worked on my diet, exercise, relationships, spiritual connection, career, & I’ve pushed myself forward into being an entrepreneur. I’ve let go of many thing in my life that no longer serve me and I’ve worked hard at creating a fulfilling life that is abundant in things & people that do serve & support me.

Whenever I felt like I was hitting a wall in my own self work,  I would have a coaching session, I would journal, I would do the work to figure out where I was stuck, and it ALWAYS came down to this: I needed to love myself more.

I needed to really know my value, my worth. I needed to quiet my inner critic, stop judging myself,  and talk to myself like I would talk to anyone else I love. I needed to commit acts of self love on the regular. I needed to put myself first and keep my cup full to be able to make the transformations I wanted to and to continue to have a lot to give to others in my life and in my work.

Many of us grow up being taught to judge, and to be our own worst critic. Most of us had great examples of this from many sources growing up. In working with me, we will keep the theme of self love & self care present in all of the work that you do.

Self love is a practice. Like anything else in life it gets easier with practice.

We will work to quiet your inner critic, and work towards a place of knowing that you are worth the work of transformation. When you live life from a place of self love, you approach everything & everyone else in your life with love. You allow your true greatness, and your unique purpose in life to come to light and shine in everything you do.

Living from a place of self love allows you to live authentically, embracing your own uniqueness, and live a life true to who you really are rather than how you think the world would like to see you.

Putting forth any effort in self transformation & positive change is a huge act of self love.

If you are reading this, and considering a coaching program, pat yourself on the back, as this is a huge act of self love.

It’s About the Journey More Than the Destination

The school of life doesn’t ring the bell and let us out of class until we leave this body. I believe that personal growth & learning are an important part of our lifelong journey, and I believe that continual efforts in personal growth is what produces a life that feels full and worthy of feeling very grateful for every day.

I will help you set goals, and yes, we will work to reach them. But, It think it’s important to remember that life happens in the process of reaching these goals, and that’s where a lot of the good stuff is! Enjoying the journey & being present & happy with yourself along the way is key.

We are continually evolving, and growing through all experiences. You also have the right to change your mind along the way, change your goals, or change your opinions.

This is YOUR journey. I’m here to support you in it, help you navigate it, and help you celebrate it!

We will approach your fresh start to life with excitement for change, while honoring where you are right now, and the journey to your goals.

Start Somewhere. Start Small. Start Now.

I KNOW full well what it feels like to be in a position where you wake up in the morning totally uninspired, and think….’this is not how I imagined living my life’.

You feel like you are running in a hamster wheel day after day nervous to jump out.  I know what it feels like to feel stuck there, like you want a complete overhaul of your life, there’s just so much you want to be doing differently and you have no idea how, or even where to start.

You just know that your soul does not sit comfortably where you are. You need things to feel different. I’ve been in that state of overwhelm where I feel like a deer in the headlights frozen in time rather than able to make progress. I’m here to tell you that you can relax…because there is no way that you can change it all overnight anyway. If you want lasting change in your life, good lifestyle habits that stick, then the change should happen gradually.

How do you start the transformation you desire?

Take a deep breath and exhale, here is your answer: you simply start somewhere, you start small, and you start now.

All you need to do is start doing one little thing differently. This one little thing will make a big impact & have a domino effect in other areas of your life, and then you are inspired to keep going. All you need to do is start. I help women navigate through this time, visioning what they want life to look & feel like, then prioritizing the steps they need to take to get there, and I support them in taking those steps. It does not need to feel overwhelming. It WILL feel empowering.

Small changes = huge impact!

Are you ready for your fresh start?
